Secret Santa with Good Hope Studies

Good Hope Volunteers’ sister company, Good Hope Studies, shares our passion for community and social development and sustainability, and recently they surprised some local children with a splash of Christmas cheer.

On Friday 29 November 2019, the Good Hope Studies staff, along with Youth Solutions, blessed the kids of Olieboom daycare in Varkenslvlei with a Secret Santa surprise. The staff were excited to gift these children with a box from Santa Clause which contained toys, an item of clothing, a snack, toiletries and so much more. The purpose of the day was to spend time with these little kids as they very seldom experience something like this with parents working long hours and not having the money to buy them these items.

The afternoon was a joyous occasion where the team had set up tables for the kids with healthy snacks, lunch and drinks. This was definitely a memorable occasion for Good Hope Studies as it touches the heart in this time of giving.

As Denzel Washington said: “At the end of the day, it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished… it’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back.”

The Good Hope Studies Team agrees: "We are so proud to have made this day possible!"

If you are interested in volunteering with young children, Good Hope Volunteers has a number of social volunteering projects to choose from. For example, the Hout Bay Children’s Programmes project. This project caters for the children in a developing community near Hout Bay. As a volunteer, you spend mornings caring for young children while their parents are at work. Afternoons are spent in an aftercare programme that assists older children with their homework and creative activities once school has finished. Meals are also provided daily for the children. There is also the Jeffrey’s Bay Kindergarten project where volunteers assist with looking after young children while their parents are at work. Volunteers feed and play with the children in the morning and have the afternoons free to explore the town of Jeffrey’s Bay, take some surf lessons or volunteer with other projects in the area.

Yours,
The Good Hope Volunteer Team
